Seafood Bake

Over the weekend, we entertained some friends and indulged in some crab, lobster and shrimp. Both Martha Stewart and Better Home & Garden featured a "clam bake". Ever since I saw Mrs. Corn's wedding, I have been craving to do some seafood myself.

So I ventured to the fresh seafood section of the supermarket for the first time. I had blue crab in mind, but the store was out and only had "Duncenness" Crab.

One crab is pretty meaty and enough for 1-2.

We named them Ted and Fred. Here they are playing ball on my kitchen floor.

Fred played fetch with Linda.

Then we gave them "alone time".

In the mean time, I got a stock pot ready with onions, celery, salt, and lemon. When the water begins to boil, put the crabs into the pot immediately and put a lid over the pot. Cook for 10-12 minutes until shell turns red and claws curl up.

RIP Ted and Fred.

Careful with that 'alone' time...you wouldn't want your crabs to, uh, get crabs.

(sorry...I couldn't resist ;)

LOL! I haven't steamed crabs at home in a long time, but your post inspired me to do so soon. Poor Fred and Ted though. hehe.
